These days, it seems that every tiny college offers courses in psychology, social work, drug and alcohol counselling, and cures for every upset in life, such as bereavement, marriage and family crisis, gambling, every kind of social, educational, industrial and health trauma and so on, not to mention the explosive growth in the sexual counselling industry.

This translates to 932 psychologists, and the distribution of these psychologists across the various specialties is presented in Table 3. The data indicate that just over 10 per cent of those psychologists with recognised specialist skills practice in regional locations, but that very few of these psychologists provide services in rural and in particular, remote locations.
Personality psychology is broadly concerned with the whole person, both describing and explaining characteristic patterns of human psychological variation including traits and abilities (Funder, 2001 ; Revelle, 1995 ).
