Art

Drawing is an extremely versatile form of art. In 1795, French painter Nicolas-Jacques invented what is now the modern pencil lead from a mixture of clay and graphite This invention allowed artists to have more control over the density and shade of graphite they used, and the tool subsequently increased in popularity amongst painters, architects, designers, and miniaturists.
This long-overdue exhibition will include examples of preparatory studies and ideas for sculpture, prints, studies and copies of works by artists Moore admired (from Picasso to El Greco, Rembrandt and the French Impressionists), studies of the human figure, animals, the landscape and the weather, portraits, designs for textiles and magazine covers, and a large representation of Moore's more famous drawings - the two series in which he chronicled wartime Britain.

Most painters of the 17th century Dutch Golden Age, including Brouwer, Van Ostade, Pieter Saenredam (1597-1665), Paulus Potter (1625-54), and the incomparable Rembrandt (1606-69), were also inveterate draftsmen who recorded their thematic ideas in drawings that were mostly completed.
Basically, traditional drawing has been drawn using a set of tools and equipment such as graphite pencils, pen and ink, chalk, markers, crayons, inked brushes and so on. Unlike traditional drawing, modern pencil art drawings are drawn using no extra tools or equipments except some pencils.

This defeatism still holds fast in some place, despite a century of ice-breaking modern art, and every kind of drawing from the mescaline-driven hallucinations of Henri Michaux to the fine lines of an Agnes Martin grid Picasso's famous remark, adapted - that it took him only four years to draw like Raphael, but a lifetime to draw like a child - used to be everywhere quoted as a call to break free of academic tradition: no more drawing from plaster casts of Roman sculptures.
